In the decade after the Gonski review, combined government funding to Independent schools increased on a per-student basis by 34%. For Catholic schools, it was 31%.
For public schools, it was only 17%.
In other words, even though all governments supported the Gonski recommendation that more public money must go to public schools and less public money must go to private schools, funding to private schools increased at twice the rate of public schools.
It’s mind boggling.
