Senator Janet Rice talks to Labor’s Climate Bill 07/09
From Senator Rice:
📣 Climate Bill passes the Senate 📣
Labor’s Climate Target Bill for a 43% emissions reduction target passed the Senate.
We, Greens, supported the bill – because it’s a start. But the fight is not over.
This bill does not go nearly far enough – we must stop all coal and gas or we risk climate catastrophe.
When I spoke to the Bill , I reflected on the fact that my first ever speech to the Senate eight years ago was speaking to the bill that scrapped the price on carbon.
We have such a lot of work to be done.
The Greens will continue to push the Labor Government to stop the mining, burning and export of coal and gas, and to protect our natural carbon sinks – our native forests.
