Adjournment Speech on the retrospective Statement of Outstanding Universal Values of the TWWHA
I had the great privilege to speak to the outstanding universal values of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and highlight the significance of wilderness as a defining value.
Recently, a comprehensive statement of the values of our World Heritage Area was adopted by UNESCO – the retrospective Statement of Outstanding Universal Value (rSOUV), demonstrates the global importance of the TWWHA as the best of the best of all World Heritage Area properties.
Tasmanians should be rightly proud of our wild places and do whatever we can in our power to protect and nurture them. The Greens will always do this and we highlight the case for Federal Minister Tanya Plibersek to refuse approval of the Lake Malbena helicopter-accessed luxury huts.
