In a housing crisis, playing politics on housing just isn’t good enough. The Tasmanian Government has been counting vacant blocks of land, emergency housing and houses that have already been built towards its policy to build 10,000 new homes by 2032.
Alongside this, Homes Tasmania will be carrying a debt $457 million by 2027 as a result of the Liberal Government walking away from their core responsibility to fund new social and affordable homes.
We need real action which sees every Tasmanian with a safe place to call home. It’s time for the Liberal Government to establish a Department of Public Works who can deliver well-planned public housing.
