The EPA revealed that 10 million kilogram of farmed salmon have died from disease in Tasmania
The Environment Protection Authority has revealed 10 million kilograms of industrially farmed salmon died from disease in southern Tasmanian waters in just two months.
This outbreak has had huge impacts on the environment and community.
It shows how ineffectual our environmental and biosecurity rules are in preventing this industry from causing marine damage and animal cruelty.
The EPA isn’t strong enough – and the Greens are calling for it to be truly independent of government policies and to have greater powers.
We are also pushing for a parliamentary inquiry into this mass salmon mortality event.
