Will Labor clarify their policy on short-stay rentals?
Airbnb continues to rip hundreds of homes out of Tasmania’s rental market every year.
Shamefully the Liberals refuse to act on this situation. But in this balance-of-power Parliament, reform would be possible if the Labor Opposition were on board.
Last week we tried to get Labor to clarify their position on short-stay rentals. We wanted to see what the potential is for action on this issue. Alarmingly, we got no answer and instead heard a speech from them railing against “intervention” in the market.
It would be a deep shame if Labor were now an obstacle to the much-needed reform of whole-home Airbnb’s.
