Samantha Ratnam’s Member Statement – A tribute to the advocacy of Behrouz Boochani
In this Member Statement, Samantha Ratnam, Leader of the Victorian Greens, acknowledges the advocacy of Kurdish journalist and writer Behrouz Boochani.
Over the last month Behrouz Boochani has been visiting Australia advocating against Australia’s punishment of people seeking asylum and refuge. He continues to speak out and acknowledge that the Kurdish community continue to be subjected to assimilation and their continued struggle for cultural survival.
While nothing can console the loss of life, years and pain that people like Behrouz have endured, I thank him for his advocacy.
