Bushfire Alert: Lajamanu Rd, Suplejack Downs

Warmer In Winter, Cooler In Summer, More In Bank

Are you feeling the chill and spending big bucks trying to stay warm?

Corangamite Shire Council is inviting resident to free information sessions where they can learn how a range of upgrades can help them stay comfortable.

Climate Change and Emissions Reduction Officer Prue Liddy residents said Going Green Solutions would run four workshops in total: three online and one in person.

“They will talk about insulation, window treatments, low-cost glazing upgrades and practical draught sealing, including professional retrofits and DIY options.

“They will explain how each option works in our benefit, and which are best.

“They will also explain the most efficient heating and hot water systems available, how the State Government rebates work, and how to make sure you get the best system for your home.”

Workshop presenter Lucinda is a highly experienced Home Energy Efficiency assessor who has helped close to 1000 clients understand ways they can improve their comfort and lower their energy needs.

She brings this experience across into her workshops, presentations and training and enjoys running sessions for people of all ages and from all walks of life.

Her approach is that there is no right or wrong way to improve a ho, rather it’s about finding the options that work best for each unique home and family, their goals, personal preferences, and budget.

Recommendations can range from low-cost DIY to professional high-cost upgrades, and everything in between, so that each person and household can choose what suits them best.

“My goal,” says Lucinda, “is to help people understand the basics of how their homes work – how heat is being lost in winter or gained in summer, and how appliances are using energy.

“The outcome I am hoping for is that people leave a workshop feeling like they know where to start and what to do first, and lose that sense of feeling overwhelmed that is so easy to experience.”
