Which Fair Work?
Our new resources will help you better understand the difference between the Fair Work agencies.
There are 2 ‘Fair Work’ agencies who help with workplace issues:
While they sound similar, they’re separate government bodies and have different roles.
We’re the Fair Work Ombudsman, Australia’s national workplace regulator.
We help employers and employees by providing information, education and advice on pay rates and workplace rights and obligations.
We also enforce compliance with the Fair Work Act, related legislation, awards and registered agreements.
The Fair Work Commission is the national workplace relations tribunal. They also regulate registered organisations like unions and employer associations.
The Fair Work Commission sets minimum wages, conditions and standards, deals with agreements, and dismissal claims. They also hear disputes about issues like bullying, harassment and discrimination.
