Winners Announced For 2025 WA Volunteer Of Year Awards

Volunteering Minister Hannah Beazley has congratulated the inspiring winners of the 2025 WA Volunteer of the Year Awards for their remarkable contributions to their communities and the State.

Hosted by Volunteering WA last night, the Awards shine a light on Western Australia’s thriving volunteer sector and the people within it who generously donate their time and talents to helping others.

The Cook Government supported this year’s awards with $30,000 in funding through Lotterywest.

This year’s winners included a young volunteer who has contributed more than 1,000 operational hours in emergency callouts with St John WA and a tireless advocate who has devoted more than 40 years to LGBTIQA+ community organisation Living Proud.

The 2025 WA Volunteer of the Year Awards winners are:

More than 230 nominations were received for this year’s Awards, with 21 finalists shortlisted from a diverse range of sectors including emergency services, mental health support, youth mentorship, sport, tourism and conservation.

The Awards were held in the lead up to National Volunteer Week, which will be celebrated from Monday 19 to Sunday 25 May this year.

The theme for 2025 is ‘Connecting Communities’, highlighting the power of volunteering in bringing people together and enriching communities.

More than 230 organisations across the State will host special events and activities throughout the week to celebrate their volunteers, supported by $355,000 in State Government funding through Lotterywest and administered by Volunteering WA.

“The 2025 WA Volunteer of the Year Awards showcase the rich volunteering culture we have here in Western Australia, with this year’s winners hailing from the Pilbara, Wheatbelt and Perth metropolitan regions.

“These often-quiet achievers each have an inspiring story to tell, and through their generosity of spirit and dedication to helping others, are making a real difference to our State.

“Volunteering brings people together and enriches our communities, making them stronger, more inclusive and better-connected places.

“These Awards are a fantastic opportunity to showcase the incredible achievements of individuals and organisations across our volunteering sector, while encouraging others to give volunteering a go.”
