Womens Equality Key in Australias Labor Economic Plan
The Albanese Labor Government is delivering for all women and girls by investing in economic equality, healthcare, and safety.
These investments over three years are outlined in the 2025-26 Women’s Budget Statement, which outlines key government investments across a range of areas.
Because of these investments, women are earning on average $217 more a week than they were in May 2022.
Australian women will also benefit from two more tax cuts that Labor is delivering in 2026 and 2027.
Women are already taking home on average $700 a year more than they would have received under the Coalition’s Stage 3 Tax Cuts, and the two new income tax cuts delivered in this Budget will provide even more support.
The Women’s Budget Statement shows how this Government – Australia’s first majority woman government – has made significant and tangible progress to improve the lives of Australian women and girls. Key investments include:
These achievements over the last three years have been possible because of the central role of gender equality in government decision-making under this government.
The Women’s Budget Statement is available on the Treasury Budget website.
“The progress and investments outlined in the Women’s Budget Statement is a testament to what is possible when government takes women’s equality seriously.
“We have made structural changes and landmark investments to stop gender-based violence and keep women safe, narrow the gender pay gap, uplift the care and support sector, and make critical services like health care and early childhood education and care more affordable.
“This Budget is a continuation of our work to advance gender equality since we came to Government, including by ensuring Australian women earn more and keep more of what they earn.
“The two new tax cuts included in the Budget will benefit every single woman taxpayer in this country, not just some.
“While the Opposition used to treat women’s policy as an afterthought, we have ensured that all our decisions are continuing to turn the dial on delivering a fairer Australia.”
