Registrations of interest are being sought from individuals and organisations to operate new businesses in the Yalbunullup Mountain Bike Trails precinct, within Yellagonga Regional Park.

Located on the western side of Lake Joondalup, the $4.57 million Yalbunullup Mountain Bike Trails opened in December 2024 and feature seven kilometres of mountain bike trails, a 100-vehicle carpark, and a large pavilion with bike racks, water fountains, and toilet facilities.

Two new jump-line trails will also be constructed at the park in the coming months.

A competitive process is now under way to identify suitable businesses to operate at the site, including options such as mobile food and beverage vans, mountain bike hire, and other complementary services.

The Cook Labor Government has invested $8.5m into recreational improvements at Yellagonga Regional Park.

As stated by the Environment Minister Matthew Swinbourn:

“The new facilities at Lake Joondalup, along with other upgrades across Yellagonga Regional Park, are creating exciting nature-based recreation and tourism opportunities, while protecting this urban oasis in Perth’s northern suburbs.

“These commercial opportunities are a great opportunity for local operators to get involved and be part of the transformation of Yellagonga Regional Park.”

As stated by Joondalup MLA Emily Hamilton:

“Since opening late last year, the Yalbunullup Mountain Bike Trails have been hugely popular with Joondalup locals and visitors.

“Nature-based tourism services like bike hire and food and beverage vans will only enhance the experience and make a day out in Yellagonga Regional Park even more enjoyable.”
