Youth Week Bursts with Free Events in Cessnock
From food, art, craft and music to sport, mindfulness, gaming on a big screen, and everything in between, Youth Week 2025 in Cessnock has something for everyone.
The annual celebration of young people runs from 9 to 17 April, and there are more than 20 free and inclusive events throughout the local government area (LGA).
On 14 April, a make-up masterclass will be held at Cessnock Youth Centre between 2.30pm and 4.30pm, with participants of all levels of experience and ability welcome to learn tips and tricks in a hands-on workshop with a professional make-up artist.
The same day, between 10am and 12pm, Performance Arts Culture Cessnock (PACC) will host a DIY skateboard deck design workshop with renowned Hunter artist Mitch Revs.
On 17 April, Cessnock and Kurri Kurri libraries will each hold a ‘sew a squishy friend’ workshop, where young people can make their own stuffed toy.
Meanwhile, keen gamers will have a chance to play some of their favourite titles on the big screen at PACC between 1.30pm and 4.30pm on 17 April.
This year’s Youth Week theme is: ‘We are the future, and the future is now!’.
Cessnock City Mayor Dan Watton said Youth Week was a celebration of the passions, creativity, interests, and diversity of young people.
“Through art, music, sports, events and community projects, we can empower our young people to express themselves, get loud and participate in our community,” said Clr Watton.
“I am inspired by the resilience and determination of Cessnock LGA’s young people, and I believe this year’s Youth Week will be a chance for them to shine.”
Cessnock City Council’s Youth Week 2025 activities are proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with Council.
