We gave Labor the benefit of the doubt after the election, but the science is clear: we cannot stop catastrophic climate change if we continue opening new coal and gas.

This is the best parliament we will have for a generation to reduce the inequality and climate crises. The biggest obstacle to progress right now is Labor themselves.

We could have meaningful change, if Labor ensures their safeguard mechanism does not allow new coal and gas projects to proceed, and if they include a national rent freeze in their housing bill.

The Greens will always fight for measures that ensure people have what they need, that tackle the inequality and climate crises.

Because that’s what any good Government should be doing. Putting people and the planet before corporations and the super wealthy.
