The first official act of the Rudd government, on 3 December 2007, was to ratify the Kyoto Protocol.
In early 2008, Prime Minister Rudd warned Parliament that “the costs of inaction on climate change are much greater than the costs of action,” urging Australia to seize the opportunity to become a leader globally.
