Leaders from this region – Doomadgee, Normanton and Burketown travelled to Canberra in March and presented to the government their basic requests for investment in their towns.

These were basic necessities including cyclone shelters, raising roads, waste management and cleaning sewer systems for flood management.

None of their projects were addressed. Their voice was not heard.
