Bob Katter

Set to head back up to the Gulf today to visit the flooded communities.

Joining me will be Federal Minister for Emergency Management Murray Watt – Senator for Queensland.

We thank the Minister for his attendance and we will continue pushing for the appointment of a military-style authority to be based in the North West to coordinate flood recovery.

Innisfail had former Governor-General Peter Cosgrove calling the shots after Cyclone Larry, Brisbane had Major General Michael Slater after the 2011 floods.

The North West also deserves a centralised authority who can override the bureaucratic hurdles and provide immediate action towards recovery.
