I met with Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry and Emergency Management Murray Watt recently, to speak about the issues and priorities for Indi.
As a regional MP, I was particularly keen to speak to Senator Watt, and we spoke about the issues facing the Agriculture sector when it comes to workers, especially Labor’s changes to the Agricultural Visa.
In his role as Minister for Emergency Management, we discussed problems facing residents and businesses in bushfire-prone areas in accessing insurance, a conversation I am keen to continue.
Senator Watt was also interested in my idea to help the farming sector reduce emissions, by funding agricultural extension officers to help farmers implement emissions reduction strategies.
I also invited Senator Watt to visit us in Indi in the new year and I will let you know when there is more to report on that front!
