2022 Suicide Prevention Day

Peter Dutton MP

2022 Suicide Prevention Day

Ahead of Suicide Prevention Day on Saturday, we remember those we have lost to suicide, those who have attempted suicide, and those who are living with the grief of losing someone.

Tragically, nearly half of all Australians will experience a mental health problem throughout their lives. 65,000 people attempt suicide each year, and 3,000 tragically commit suicide.

These are confronting statistics.

In government, the investments we put into mental health and suicide prevention helped ensure all Australians have access to high-quality, compassionate, person-centred care wherever and whenever required.

We all have a role to play. Every effort and endeavour to prevent suicide matters.

Thank you Julian Leeser MP for your genuine and personal advocacy on this issue.
