Queensland MPs are about to debate Michael Berkman – Greens MP for Maiwar Bill to #RaisetheAge and keep 10-13 year old kids out of prison!
So far both the Labor government and the LNP have indicated they won’t support the bill – we have less than 1 week to change their minds.
Can you please take two minutes today to call the State Attorney-General, Shannon Fentiman, on (07) 3719 7400, and your local MP if you’re outside Maiwar?
Ask them to support Michael’s Bill to raise the age of criminal responsibility, transition 10-13 year old children out of prisons and watch houses, and reinvest youth justice funding into an alternative model of non-punitive prevention, early intervention and diversion.
