Simon’s Story

Simon Cooper is a beef farmer at Penna and as the drought grips rural Tasmania he is down to his second last bale of hay.

Simon needs to purchase fodder from Victoria in order to feed his stock, however the Liberal Government’s cuts to biosecurity mean it could take up to 16 weeks for his application to be processed.

There simply isn’t the staff to deal with applications in a timely manner and it’s animals and farmers that are suffering.

The Liberals’ cuts to biosecurity in Tasmania are having an effect every single day. The Government must act to make sure the organisation is properly resourced.
