Sadly, the Labor Government is spending millions to destroy Victoria’s irreplaceable native forests.
We all depend on a healthy environment to thrive, yet the Labor Government allows the destruction of Victoria’s forests, rivers and grasslands for private profit.
This is tragic – for our climate and for our precious forests and the thousands of native species that rely on them.
As Richard Denniss writes in his op-ed for The Guardian,
“Most of the trees from native forests logging get turned into woodchips to make paper.
But while there are lots of substitutes for native forest woodchips, there is no substitute for our remaining native forest habitats which are literally the only places on earth that countless species can live.
And those same forests are the only places on earth that can filter and purify the water that runs into the dams that provide most of our drinking water.”
The Greens will hold the Labor Government to account on protecting nature.
We won’t stop pushing to end native forest logging.
