The Greens join in solidarity with First Nations organisations, and medical, legal and human rights experts who are calling to raise the age from 10 to at least 14 years of age.
The Victorian Greens have introduced legislation to parliament that would raise the age – to protect young children from prison and the harms of the criminal justice system. It would also ban locking children up in solitary confinement in Victoria.
We urge the Labor Government to pass this reform without delay.
