Firstly I would like to applaud Julie McKay and Carmen Edmondson of the Cardwell Family Practice for the fight their putting up for their community.

Having said that, primary healthcare shouldn’t be a fight.

Yet Nick Dametto MP and myself have had to plead with our respective governments to listen and assist Cardwell Family Practice, so it doesn’t close its doors on September 1, after operating with locums only, for years.

We understand the severity of the situation, and what it will mean for the almost 1000 patients, but also the neighbouring hospitals and general practices.

Now we’re just hoping the governments understand this too and can provide resolution. Time is running out, and we’ve been knocking on their doors for weeks now.
