Australia’s leading locally-owned and operated plant-based protein company, v2food, is based right here in Indi.

It was great to get a tour from CEO and founder Nick Hazell, and learn of the factory’s production of soy-based food products. Production manager, Scott Harbridge filled me in on their exciting plans for the future.

v2food opened in Wodonga in 2020 and even through the pandemic has managed to succeed and currently employs 22 people with big expansion plans ahead. In just its first two years of retail, the company has cornered 30% of the plant-based food market.

v2food produce a large range of plant based products such as chicken schnitzels, sausages, and mince, aimed at people who choose not to eat animal products but miss the taste of meat.

Nick also outlined how the company is working closely with the grains industry with the intention to eventually replace all currently imported soy ingredients with soy grown by Australian farmers.

Manufacturing in the North East is booming and it was wonderful to see another company take advantage of everything our region has to offer.
