The Liberals have today made a divisive announcement they plan to remove protections on tens of thousands of hectares of high conservation value forest and hand them to industry for logging.
Under the Liberals,
the precious habitat of endangered species – like the swift parrot – has been logged, pushing them towards extinction. They’ve overseen the millions of tonnes of emissions released into the atmosphere when they torched these areas with high intensity burns.Over the past ten years Liberal and Labor politicians have been in lockstep, cheering on the native forest logging industry. It’s shameful.
Something has to change.
Last week, Tabatha Badger, Greens for Lyons, Dr Darren Briggs, Greens for Braddon and I visited the World Heritage forests in the Styx Valley. These forests were protected last time the Greens were in the balance of power.
We need your help to put us back in the balance of power to protect lutruwita/Tasmania’s biodiverse carbon-bank forests.
