ACH backflip a win for commonsense
Member for North West Central Merome Beard has welcomed the belated reversal of the shambolic Aboriginal Cultural Heritage legislation.
“Today’s decision is a win for commonsense and a win for the local community.”
“This has been a team effort from many of those across the electorate and around the state. I am proud to be able to keep local concerns on the agenda.
“Nothing was clearer that the Premier had it wrong when around 300 concerned locals packed the Carnarvon Woolshed last month and hundreds of others across the State,” said Ms Beard.
“This common-sense outcome shows what can be achieved by regional MPs , taking regional issues to Perth and being a hardworking opposition.
“Even with complete control of Parliament, together the Opposition and the community spoke clearly with one strong voice in a way the government couldn’t ignore,” said Ms Beard.
