Hundreds of bikes ride down the Upfield path through Brunswick, heading for work each morning, and hundreds more go down Syd Rd.
The southern end of the Upfield path has been subject to shifting diversions onto other streets since March last year, which are increasingly dangerous and confusing and may last until late next year.
Many riders are moving onto Sydney Rd already, statistically one of the most dangerous roads for cyclists in the state. We should be grateful that an increasing number of people are choosing a clean, active and healthy way to beat the crippling congestion in the inner-north and it’s time we took their safety seriously.
