The Valeria coalmine was going to produce 20 million tonnes of coal per year for 37 years.

But the approval & closure of fossil fuel projects shouldn’t be left to fossil fuel companies. The transition needs to be Government-led, so that workers and communities aren’t left behind.

We need a transition plan for coal communities, and a climate trigger in our Environment Laws so that massively polluting projects can’t get approval in the first place.
