I recently sat down with Minister for Education Jason Clare, to talk about the severe teacher shortages we are experiencing in Indi right now.
I spoke to him about how Wodonga Middle Years Secondary College
was forced to say goodbye to four much-needed teachers from Ireland, because of their visa status. The Minister assured me he would speak to the Minister for Immigration about the issue.We also spoke about the success of the Nexus program run through La Trobe University, which prepares, mentors and graduates teachers in hard-to-staff schools in reginal and rural Victoria. Nexus is part of the High Achieving Teachers program that that received an additional $68.3 million under the October Budget. I look forward to seeing this money go towards much needed teachers in Indi.
