If you live in Brisbane or Ipswich, even if you’ve never door knocked ...

Queensland Greens

If you live in Brisbane or Ipswich, even if you’ve never door knocked before, we need you for our Housing Weekend of Action! Join Max Chandler-Mather, Federal MP for Griffith and our friendly team of volunteers, and we’ll give you all the information, skills and resources you need to start having conversations about how we can take real action on housing.

We only have a few weeks until Labor will bring their housing Bill to a vote in the Senate. We know that their proposal will actively make the housing crisis worse. They don’t have a plan for renters, they will cut funding to housing every year and their plan will see the shortage of social and affordable housing grow. Not only that but now they are planning to cut $65 million in homeless service funding and 650 jobs that rely on it AND cut 27,000 National Rental Affordability Scheme properties.

Luckily, the Greens have the balance of power and we’re pushing for a national freeze on rent increases and $5 billion invested in social and affordable housing every year to fund the construction of hundreds of thousands of homes. But time is running out to pressure the government to come to the table.

We know the Greens power in parliament is only as strong as our power in the community. That’s why next weekend we’ll be getting out to chat with thousands of people across Australia about the housing crisis. Sign up in the comments 👇
